Can anyone please upload the paper so we can discuss and finalise the answer key. My daughter appeared in the exam and is in tension now. Renuka S Mumbai
Well i found the paper a bit challenging!! it was above the regular level of KVPY paper but well can any one tell me what will be the Cut off Marks for SA stream?
(4) Let a,b be non-zero real numbers. Which of the following statements about the quadratic equation ax^2+(a+b)x+b=0 is necessarily true? (I) It has at least one negative root. (II) It has at least one positive root. (III) Both its roots are real
(A) (I),(II) only (B) (I),(III) only (C) (II),(III) only (D) All of them
(5) Let x,y,z be non zero real numbers such that \frac{x}{y}+\frac{y}{z}+\frac{z}{x}=7 and \frac{y}{x}+\frac{z}{y}+\frac{x}{z}=9, then \frac{x^3}{y^3}+\frac{y^3}{z^3}+\frac{z^3}{x^3}-3 is equal to (A)152 (B)153 (C)154 (D)155
(6) In a triangle ABC with \angle A<\angle B<\angle C, points D,E,F are on the interior of segments BC,CA,AB, respectively.Which of the following triangles \mathbf{CANNOT} be similar to ABC? (A)\Delta{ABD} (B)\Delta{BCE} (C)\Delta{CAF} (D)\Delta{DEF}
(8) In an acute-angled triangle ABC, the altitudes from A,B,C when extended intersect the circumcircle again at points A_1,B_1,C_1 respectively. If \angle{ABC}=45, then \angle{A_1 B_1 C_1} equals (A)45 (B)60 (C)90 (D)135
(9) In a rectangle ABCD, points X and Y are the midpoints of AD and DC, respectively. Lines BX and CD when extended intersect at E, lines BY and AD when extended intersect at F. If area of ABCD is 60, then area of BEF is (A)60 (B)80 (C)90 (D)120
(11) A person X is running around a circular track completing one round every 40 seconds. ANother person Y running in the opposite direction meets X every 15 seconds. The time, expressed in seconds, taken by Y to complete one round is (A)12.5 (B)24 (C)25 (D)55
(14) Ten points lie in a plane so that no three of them are collinear. Then number of lines passing through exactle two of these points and dividing the plane into two regions each containing four of the remaining points is (A)1 (B)5 (C)10 (D) dependent on the configuration of points
(15) In a city, total income of all people with salary below Rs.10000 per annum is less than the total income of all people with salary above Rs.10000 per annum. If the salaries of people in the first group increases by 5% and the salaries of people in the second group decreases by 5% , then the average income of all people (A) increases (B) decreases (C) remains the same (D) cannot be determined from the data
(1) Let a,b,c,d,e be natural numbers in an arithmetic progression such that a+b+c+d+e is the cube of an integer and b+c+d is square of an integer. The least possible value of the number of digits of c is (A)2 (B)3 (C)4 (D)5
(2) On each face of a cuboid , the sum of its perimeter and its area is written. Among the six numbers so written, there are three distinct numbers and they are 16,24,31. The volume of the cuboid lies between (A)7 and 14 (B)14 and 21 (C)21 and 28 (D)28 and 35
(3) Let ABCD be a square and let P be a point on segment CD such that DP:PC=1:2. Let Q be a point on segment AP such that \angle{BQP=90}. Then the ratio of the area of quadrilateral PQBC to the area of the square ABCD is (A)\frac{31}{60}
(4) Suppose the height of a pyramid with a square base is decreased by p% and lengths of the sides of its square base are increased by p%(p>0). If volume remains the same, then (A)50<p<55 (B)55<p<60 (C)60<p<65 (D)65<p<70
(5) There are three kinds of liquids X,Y,Z. Three jars J_1,J_2,J_3 contain 100ml of liquids X,Y,Z respectively. By an operation we mean three steps in the following order: -stir the liquid in J_1 and transfer 10ml from J_1 to J_2; -stir the liquid in J_2 and transfer 10ml from J_2 to J_3; -stir the liquid in J_3 and transfer 10ml from J_3 to J_1; After performing the operation 4 times, let x,y,z bet the amounts of X,Y,Z respectively, in J_1. Then (A)x>y>z (B)x>z>y (C)y>x>z (D)z>x>y
I don't think fools of your kind deserve to be kvpy scholars. Even after knowing that 70% is more than enough, asking if you have a chance is ridiculously silly. You lack brains and is certainly going to be rejected in the interview. I feel you are in the need of a psychiatrist.
i think ans key is wrong acc at t =0 cant be determineed coz you dont know what was before it and so u cant find slope of slope so we'll have to see after t +0 and then ans is B
Deriving from the fact that many thought the paper this year was tougher than last year's, I don't think the cut will go any higher than last year. Comments?
Why the hell is the answer to Q.80 (B)????? It's OBVIOUSLY wrong, I challenge you ARYAN CLASSES or anyone else to give a convincing solution to this problem.... You cant do that can you.... and you claim to be able to give coaching and whatnot... can't handle a single bio problem.... No offence... I think the answer is (D), and I am backed by all my Maths and Biology teachers at school... So peace out... :)
No it doesnt.. they are asking for the rate of change of pupulation, i.e (dp/dt), or the slope of curve.. obviously, the slope first increases and then decreases..
i am not a bio student . my additional is stats and i can well guarantee despite what ur fiit jee and stuff says, that the answer is d. it reaches an asymptote. maybe u should look up the meaning of asymptote if u r confused
Okay, so here is my explanation of why the answer is (D). The question is about the POPULATION GROWTH RATE. Which means the slope of the graph. Draw slopes at some points. Then we find that, slope initially increases to a maximum, and then decreases. I dont care whether it stays constant/reaches an asymptote after it decreases. For all I know, the graph is not big enough for anyone to assume that GROWTH RATE becomes constant in the end. Anyway, I am 144% sure that (d) is the correct answer, I was just trying to help some people out... Thanks
Have you seen last year's paper ? It was much tougher they had asked topics like thermodynamic s , aromatic compounds even bio was very tough and the cut off was 52. I am sure cut off this year will be close to 65

(A) (I),(II) only
(B) (I),(III) only
(C) (II),(III) only
(D) All of them
B
DeleteD is the answer.
DeleteHow can we say that it would have at least one positive root. When we calculate the roots one root comes out to be -1 and other -b/a
DeleteSee on solving it would come Delta = (b-a)^2
DeleteSo roots are real
and if b>a then one is +ve other -ve
similarly if b<a one is -ve other +ve :D
